Preschool at Discovery Place is different from daycare because our teachers have extensive training in early childhood education. We provide wonderful opportunities for developing social, emotional, academic, and life skills. There are many different types of preschool programs that parents can choose; however, Discovery Place offers our preschoolers a play-based curriculum that is focused on academic skills.
Our preschool 3-year-old program is intended to help our children get ready for more formal schooling at a developmentally appropriate pace. In addition, Discovery considers each child's developmental needs when creating an individual learning plan for them. Our preschool program along with parental involvement plays an important role in your child's future academic success. Discovery's academic play-based program is beneficial because it gives children a chance to discover, play, and learn together.
Prekindergarten - 4 Years Old

Does your child thrive on having plenty to do, or do they have trouble moving from one thing to the next and participating in activities? Our preschool 4 classroom has great opportunities for your child to learn many skills! Your child will become an active discoverer! At this developmental level, our children are ready to play and learn in a more academic environment.
They are observed and assessed for an individual learning plan focused on their developmental needs. In the Pre-K 4 classroom, “play” is more structured and result oriented. We've created new and unconventional ways to use everyday places as rich learning spaces for young children. Our learning environment is engaging, comfortable, and has tons of learning materials. We monitor the materials and classrooms because this is the third classroom that a child experiences in their learning development.
Lastly, our Pre-K 4 classroom is built around parent partnership. Having a respectful partnership with our parents is crucial because the parents are the child's first and eternal teachers. Our goal for our Pre-K 4 Discovery children is to be "school ready" for kindergarten.
Each child follows a predictable routine such as:
- Circle time
- Small learning groups
- Learning center play
- Musical instrument instruction
- Physical education
- Yoga and mindfulness instruction
- Scientific investigations
