Kids Fun Fitness

Kids Fun Fitness engages children in the age-appropriate fundamentals of fitness.

Kids will develop a love for physical fitness at a young age in a stress-free and positive environment. The goal of our Kids Fun Fitness program is to improve the child's performance in basic fitness. Our fitness activities are fun, engaging, and the workouts are based on a child's individual capability. The fitness teachers come from varied backgrounds (personal trainers, kids fitness camps, community wellness, etc.) but all are experts in fitness and in working with young children.

Little Musicians

It's important at Discovery Place Preschools that our children receive a well-rounded education.

Learning how to play an instrument is a key component to a well-rounded education. Playing a musical instrument has a direct impact on a child's development. The current instrument of choice for our Little Musicians' program, is the recorder. Discovery's music program is guided by a well-trained early childhood music instructor who understands the impact of music development on our children. Our early childhood education Little Musicians' program provides an active music making experience that affects the child's cognitive, fine, and gross motor skills, listening and social skills. Our more advanced music players learn to read music. “Music” is a universal cultural connection that allows our bi-lingual children to feel comfortable interacting with their peers. Children and music are a perfect fit, and our Little Musicians program opens doors of opportunities.

Yoga and You

Our “Yoga and You” program is guided by an outside trained yoga instructor.

Discovery Place Preschools has found this program to be a healthy and playful bonding experience for our children and teachers. Yoga helps establish healthy habits at an early age giving our children enhanced physical development in the areas of; strength, coordination, balance, endurance, aerobic capacity, and flexibility, while encouraging body awareness. We have also found yoga to be a great tool for improving mindfulness in the areas of building self-esteem, reducing anxiety, stress and promoting a sense of calmness.

Yoga and mindfulness have been shown to improve both physical and mental health in preschoolers. In addition, yoga has shown amazing results in improving a child's cognitive skills; focus, memory, self-esteem, academic performance, and classroom behavior. Discovery Place Preschools has integrated yoga and mindfulness into our physical education program because it adds another area of enhanced child development through “play”. Yoga is playful and interactive, allowing our children to engage in laughter, expression, and imagination.
